TIP OF THE WEEK

Clear and glowing skin is something I’m working towards every day. In order to achieve that, I believe that you have to be gentle with your skin and use natural products free from nasty chemicals. Lately I have been obsessed with essential oils and my current favorite is Rosehip oil. Essential oils have really helped my skin recover from a long period of acne, so if you are or have struggled with acne in the past – this tip might be for you!

Every morning and night I mix a few drops of this oil together with my moisturizer. Some people might be skeptical to put oils on their skin, especially on the face – but I can promise you that it will not do any harm! Rosehip oil is very light and not greasy at all. It’s actually very similar to the oil our skin produce naturally, and that is why this oil won’t clog your pores.

I started using this oil because I heard it’s really good at fading acne scars (or scars in general). I haven’t been using it for that long, but I feel like my skin has improved so much already! I have even been complimented because of my skin, and I honestly never thought that day would come! Acne is horrible and it takes such a long time to get rid of it, and when you finally have managed to get rid of – you might be left with deep scars. I know the struggle and I really hope that this tip can help you as much as it has for me!

Some people believe that you have to give up all junk foods when you go vegan, but that is simply not true! Today, I had the best burger together with a few friends of mine at Feed the Earthlings on the Gold Coast. It’s amazing that they are able to create burgers that taste so legit – with melted cheese and everything! We also had super yummy garlic bread, and I know from a earlier visit that they make the best ham & cheese pizza I have ever tasted!

The place is so charming as well! It doesn’t look super fancy or anything like that. It’s just this little place with a few tables outside, but the atmosphere is so good and the staff is very friendly! They started up only a few months ago, but they already have heaps of loyal customers. I’m not surprised if they open up a bigger restaurant soon. Yesterday, it was apparently so crowded there that people had to wait in line for over an hour just to order.. I think that if people are willing to stand in a line for over a hour to just get a burger, they know that it’s a REALLY good burger they are getting!

So if you are on the Gold coast – hit them up!

Rock Climbing in Burleigh Heads National Park

How amazing is this view? I’m glad I can call this place home! Burleigh Heads is such a beautiful place and if you ever get a chance to go there – do it! Today, Marius and I went down and decided to try to find some new lookouts. After some climbing we reached these huge rocks. When we sat on them, we could literally see the whole coast – so beautiful! But I have to admit that I was pretty terrified as well because the drop right in front of us was about 40 meter straight down..

Reader Question: How Do You Prepare yourself For a Workout

I have gotten a few questions about how I prepare myself for a workout, so I thought I could share the answer here for everybody to see. Let’s get into it!

I’m definitively a morning person, no doubt. Therefore, I try to schedule my workout sessions to the morning so I don’t end up skipping them.. I have come to realize that I’m just not one of those persons that can slip right into their running shoes (or gym shoes) after a long day and smash out a workout.. All I want to do is relax!

So how do I prepare myself for a workout? 

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is to take a big sip of apple cider vinegar. It’s good for your digestion as it gives it a kick start! Then I reach for something to eat. I usually end up eating some fresh fruits because nothing taste better than fruits in the morning, am I right? Fruit is also great because it hydrates your body, gives you instant energy and doesn’t fill you up too much. Too much food before a workout is not a good idea – I’m talking from experience.. Then I sit down for a while, read some blogs, catch up on some homework or watch pointless YouTube videos until the food have digested a little bit. Then I’m ready to get moving! No supplements or anything fancy required.

WHAT TO DO ON THE WEEKENDS SO YOU GET MORE OUT OF YOUR WEEK

I know it’s Monday, but I decided to publish this post today so you can follow some of these tips and prepare yourself for the weekend and get the most out of it – enjoy!

In order to get a perfect work or study week, I have learned that your weekends need to feel slightly different from your weekdays. I think it’s important to actually take some time off and do something different and fun when you can – even though if you have a lot to do! I have written a little list down below on how you can get the most out of your weekends, so you feel content and prepared for Monday when it comes.

PLAN IT OUT

In today’s distracted world, no weekend plan likely means you’ll end up mindlessly watching TV or browsing the internet.. Make sure to plan your weekend a few days ahead so you actually feel like you get something out of the days you have off from work. Planning also lets you savor the joy of anticipating something fun, and we all know it’s easier to be productive when we know we are doing something fun later!

MAXIMIZE YOUR MORNINGS

A typical weekend morning often consist of sleeping in followed by a long and relaxing breakfast. It’s nothing wrong with that, but if you want to be productive or you are currently working on a personal pursuits, like training for a marathon – why not wake up early and get over with it so you can spend the rest of your day with your friends and family?

CREATE TRADITIONS

The happiest people often have special activities they do together with friends or family that don’t require special planning – Friday pizza night with your family, Saturday walk with a friend or Sunday morning pancakes with your boyfriend/girlfriend. I love traditions like this because it’s so effortless, but you still end up having a really good time!

COMPRESS CHORES

I know what you are thinking: When else am I supposed to get errands done? Well, you can still do them, but don’t let them take over your whole weekend. Give yourself an hour or two to do what you absolutely have to. Giving yourself a little “window” makes you more motivated to get chores done quickly so you can move on to the fun things – YAY!

CUT DOWN ON TECH

I’m a firm believer that it’s good with a little “technology Sabbath”. You probably spend enough time looking into a screen at work or while studying anyway.. Most of the time we spend on our phones and computers actually don’t give us anything at all – we are just killing time. When you put your phone and computer away, you suddenly get so much more time to do other things that you actually will remember!

DO SOMETHING FUN SUNDAY NIGHT

Have you ever experienced those Sunday night blues? If so – you’re not alone! To avoid feeling down, make sure to plan something fun! This extends the weekend and keeps you focused on the fun to come, rather than on Monday morning. One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday night, is to gather a few friends together for dinner, some casual drinks or movie night – I mean, since people usually are free on Sunday night anyway..

I don’t know what your biggest dream is or what you’re currently going through, but I know three things for sure that you can apply to all aspects of your life. I can guarantee you that someone has already told you everything I have written in this post before, but I think it’s important with a little reminder now and then. So here’s a great reminder of three things to never do in life.

1. Never Give Up

If you truly want something, there is always a way. Some days will be tough, and you will most likely feel like quitting at least once, but that doesn’t mean that you should give up. I like to think that nothing is going to change unless it hurts a little. No matter what it is – change is painful! Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that is true strength. Remember that the temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed.

2. Never Lose Hope

Just because your past didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, doesn’t mean that your future can’t be better than you ever imagined. Sometimes we feel like everything is fighting against us, we lose hope and it might be hard to see why you started your journey in the first place. I think the key to never lose hope, is to remind yourself EVERYDAY exactly “why” you want to reach you goal.

3. Never Stop Trying

You haven’t lost before you stop trying! When I was about 8 years old, I owned a pony that threw me off almost every single time I was riding it (I’m actually not exaggerating..). I had it for about two years and I was riding it almost every day – so yeah, it’s fair to say that I have tasted sand MANY, MANY times. But did I give up? Hell no! I got back into the saddle every single time, and you know what? A few years later I became one of the best equestrians in Norway. The moral of my little story is that sometimes your goals might seem unrealistic, but that shouldn’t be reason enough for you to stop trying. If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it – after a while, your goal might not seems as unrealistic as you first thought when you started out!

How To Spark Your Creative Genius and Succeed as a Blogger

To become a successful blogger, creativity is key. Even though it might sound cheesy, blogging is all about creating something that enrich your reader’s life. You have to create content of value. That being said, that doesn’t mean that you have to offer your readers discounts at the end of each post or arrange expensive giveaways. I want you to focus on making your readers feel something. Make them smile, laugh or learn something – if you manage to do that, I can guarantee you that they will come back for more!

I feel like many people believe that you have to be born creative, but that is simply not true. Everyone can be creative, but you have to practice and nourish your imagination. The brain is a funny thing and it becomes lazy if you don’t train it. Lately, I have been working towards becoming more creative myself, and in the process I have learned 10 different methods you can use to spark your creative genius. Since I live by the motto: “secrets are boring, let’s share what we know with each other”, I decided that I wanted to share my methods with you.

  1. Write Down 10 Ideas While You Eat Breakfast
    This is a genius way to kick start your brain in the morning! Just write down the first ideas that you can come up with. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s an idea. Sometimes the ideas might come to you right away, but it’s not unusual to struggle after the four first. They key is to push your brain the extra mile and don’t give up before you have 10 different ideas written down on the paper in front of you.

 

  1. Write Morning Pages
    This point is somewhat similar to the first one, but here it’s all about writing everything that crosses your mind while you’re sitting in front of the computer. This is called “brain-dumping” and works as a “lasting creative awakening”.

 

  1. Explore the Unknown
    It can be hard to think out of the box if you do the same things at the same time every day. Try something new, something out of your comfort zone. When we take ourselves out of our comfort zone and push through our fears, we liberate ourselves, gain new perspectives and expand our creative minds.

 

  1. Keep an Idea Book
    .. and carry it with you wherever you go! Sometimes the best ideas might come to you at the weirdest places and we tend to forget them if we don’t write them down.

  1. Create a Vision Board
    A vision board is a place where you put pictures and text that represent who you are or who you want to be. Hang your vision board in your office, by your bed or somewhere else where you spend time frequently. The key is to take a quick glance at it when you feel lack of motivation or feel like you need something to keep you focused.

 

  1. Exercise Your Imagination
    Visualization and imagination is the source of everything that has ever been created. The more we visualize something we want to create, the more likely it’s to be created – easy as that!

 

  1. Write, Write, Write and Don’t Judge!
    The biggest enemy of creativity is self-doubt. We tend to judge everything we do before we even do it. Try to write non-stop without backspacing anything. It might not turn out to be something great, but it relaxes your mind and makes the ideas flow more frequently.

 

  1. Don’t Be a Perfectionist
    It’s great to have the intention of doing everything hundred percent, but if you are focusing too much on the small details, you might get stuck. Give your mind a break and focus on the details later!

 

  1. Daydream… And Then Get Back to Work!
    This is probably my favorite tips because I’m such a big day dreamer, but don’t use this as an excuse to get away from work. Take your time, but don’t spend all day daydreaming..

 

  1. Embrace Something Absurd
    Good ideas might seem weird at first, but don’t be afraid to embrace them! I have a rule when I’m in the problem solving process and that is to write down everything. Nothing is too weird to be written down!
